King Kassapa who erected a magnificent palace on top of this 500 foot monolith became obsessed with guilt as he waited in dread retribution for 18 long years, until he took his own life at the foot of his rock fortress. The Sigiriya Village Hotel, Sri Lanka is within 5 minutes walk to the Sigiriya Rock and 15 minutes drive to Dambulla Town’s caves and temples. The pool is in a large courtyard area and is a great place to relax. Cottages are simply decorated using local handicrafts.
